Soya beans, corn, cotton and many other products on the shelfs of our shops arrive genetically modified. Genetic engineering is a huge achievement of scientific research that aids in solving the world-wide problems. Using the methods of gene transfer, natural evolution is speeded up, therefore it is possible to create the plants that are resistant to the pests, to reduce the starvation in poor countries, and also to find the medications against previously incurable diseases.
Bioengineering combines two important research fields – Natural sciences and Engineering. The professionals of this area use the knowledge of Engineering and Technologies in Medicine and Biology.
The aim of the programme is to prepare the professionals that possess the fundamental knowledge in both natural sciences and engineering and are capable of using the theoretical knowledge when solving practical problems
